We are Recruiting for a Senior Manager Community Development Africa to based in Johannesburg or any countries as deemed to be so with frequent international travel into Africa and other parts of the world.

Description:

This role calls for a strategic thinker that understands the rationale for this critical role, is able to refine the strategy as needed and discern what activities should be undertaken and what should not in terms of the broader conservation mandate.

A leader who has the ability to oversee execution of the strategy at scale across multiple countries, coordinating geographically disparate management teams, each with differing abilities and experience. This includes working with the local operations function to ensure that they deliver the required impact.

A credible presenter who can articulate the strategy to both in-country donors as well as global institutions in order to facilitate financial commitments to enable execution.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience in community development initiatives in Africa
  • Knowledge and exposure to key developmental institutions
  • MSc in development economics or similar qualification
  • Good command of English, and preferably French or Portuguese
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business and commercial acumen
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management

Key activities will include:

  • Provide strategic support on the development and implementation of their specific community development strategies.
  • Seeking and structuring high level partnership arrangements with specialized external development partners and donors (with   Fundraising)
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of impact investment initiatives, core to and in or adjacent.
  • Share best practice and ensure proper metrics are in place and achieved.

The role will be based in Johannesburg or any other possible location if its deemed to be so, with frequent travel as well as overseas travel when required to meet with key donors and development institutions.
