The Last Days Fam, a musical outfit that is busy transfiguring South African hip hop, infusing it with a spiritual and socially conscious message, is made of group of Tembisa artists who are also bonded by a born-again Christian background.
The Last Days Fam began their epic journey the moment they dared to grab the hip hop industry bull by the horns and challenge the accepted norms in the genre. Rising above the standard hip hop format to produce a fresh, modern and exciting gospel-propelled hip-hop sound aptly dubbed CHANGE MUSIC +, which is defined as “music with an eternal effect on the listener”, a movement was born.

They later established their own record label “Eternal Effect productions” through which their material is being released.

In February 2010 Last Days Famwas awarded“the best group of the year” award in the second annual MTN Hype Music Awards for 2009!

Their accolades include being nominated for “the best group of the year” award in the recent first ever annual MTN Hype Music Awards in 2008.
Last Days Famhas also subsequently been offered a distribution agreement with SoulCandiRecords which has made Last Days Fam’sdebut album ”The Official Street Ep” available at MusicaMegastores in South Africa following being featured several times in Hype Magazine’s “How to deal ” section.

The Last Days Famhas performed their material together at many events and locations including Heads Against Violence (Hip-hop artists against xenophobia attacks ), Back to the City, The AFDA Showcase, Thesis Concept Stores Sundays, Tembisa’sKota Tour and Forefront, Soweto Streetpop, XarraUrban Zulu in Durban, BAT Centre in Durban(Battle of the year), Baseline, Splash jam, Hiphopat RJs, Street Poets Society TUT, UvukoPoetry Movement VUT, Graveside, 1808, Drill Hall, to name a few.
The uniqueness of Last Days Fam’smessage also drew attention from academic and religious institutions including University of Pretoria, Sutherland High School, NorkemPark High School, Sir Pierre High School, Centurion Christian Church, Steve BikoFoundation, Church on the hill, Dominion Life Cathedral, Eksderde, YeovillePrimary School, Christian Family Church, Johannesburg International Church, Christ CentredChurch, His People UJ, SRC/SCA VUT.

The spread and the influence of their message also drew interest from media publications in Africa and the world such as Rebirth Magazine –Botswana, Global Soundtracks –UK, The Star SA, Hype magazine SA. The extent of their reach also drew television media and radio stations such as MNET Africa Awakes, RadioTV, ETV’s Craze and ShizNiz, Channel O’s Oboma, SABC 1 Music Lounge, and Channel O’s Head Rush and One Gospel, Soweto TV, Link FM, ThethaFM, KagisoFM, Durban Youth Radio, UmhloboWenene, MCR Radio, UJFM, VOT, Clouds FM (Tanania).

Last Days songs have also been featured on Hype Magazine’s Mixtapes, SOS Backpackers Mixtapesand various other Mixtapes. On 07 September 2007 Last Days Famdebut video of their song “never fit the description” was shown on Channel O’s fresh and crispy for the first time, and received much appreciation and support from viewers which lead to the video holding several top-five count-downs on the channel’s programs. Last Days Famemerged victorious as the hip hop group to represent South Africa at the Annual BConnectedFestival, sponsored by Music Mayday in Tanzania Dar esSalaam. This earned Last days Famthe opportunity to showcase their craft in Tanzania amongst other international artists.

In 2011 Last Days Fam returned with two hot singles that have industry tongues wagging with excitement, namely “Still here“, produced by producer extraordinaire Oddisee,a Sudanese/American producer who has produced for the likes of Little Brother, DJ Jazzy Jeff, TalibKweli, J-Live and Asheru; and “New Era” produced by Onender, an amazingly talented and award winning producer from KwaZulu Natal. The singles have both been play-listed after escalating on the charts at YFM.

Last Days Fam has once again shaken up the hip-hop industry with their award winning sophomore album” Eternal Effect”. The album claimed the award for ‘Best Gospel Rap’ at the SABC Crown Gospel Awards in 2012 and has received a SAMA nomination for “Best Rap Album” in 2013.
