Hayley Owen Biography

Hayley Owen, a South African actress, TV presenter and entrepreneur who is best known for her role as Angie on the M-Net soap opera The Wild.

Hayley has a deep desire for the arts since she was young, a passion that was inspired by her late grandmother, who was also an actress. At a young age Hayley and her sister Megan were encouraged to play dress up and perform for their parents.

Hayley graduated from Wits University with honours in Dramatic Art and this helped her nurture and improve her acting skilla. After graduation, she became involved in Educational theatre.

She was also a pioneering member of the first Playback Theatre Company in Johannesburg, which specialized in improvisational theatre where the audience would tell stories and actors spontaneously bring them to life.

After an internship with the Playback Theatre Company in London, Hayley ventured into television, working as a TV presenter for the SKY Gambling channel, and had to acquire a croupier’s license for the job.

Hayley continued to develope her love for Educational theatre. She started Actorvate, a company that uses actors for marketing promotions and produces Educational Roadshows at the the end of 2012.
Hayley played the role of Angie on the television drama, The Wild. Her character is a tough-talking bush ranger who stands little nonsense.


In 2013, she began her own show on Darren Scott’s online radio station Ballz Visual Radio. She also had guest starring roles in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo (as Hayley, a cunning and manipulative old contact of Len Cooper’s) in that same year. Hayley also starred on the SABC3 casino drama series High Rollers as Tallulah, a showgirl.

In 2014, she guest starred in the television series Check-Coast and in 2015, her role on High Rollers was upgraded to a series regular in Season 2, when the show changed format from a weekly drama to a thrice-weekly telenovela.

In 2017, she had a recurring role on the SABC1 soap opera: The Legacy in which she starred as Elsa van Wyk, a conservative mother who sets out to find her childhood nanny.
