Zain Bhikha Biography

Zain Bhikha was born on 8th August 1974 in Pretoria, South Africa. He is a South African singer and song writer who performs islamic nasheed songs.

Zain Bhikha Career

His career in music began when he was still young, he did not receive any formal music training but a natural inclination for writing and composing.
In 1994 he entered a singing competition hosted by ‘702’- a local Johannesburg Radio Station and won. He won using his simple song that he recorded on his home karaoke system.
In 1994 he released an album ‘A Way of Life’, that was a compilation of basic Acapella Islamic songs, mostly in English, covering the various tenets of Faith.
He soon released three more albums in quick succession following A Way of Life.
Yusuf Islam, an Islamic activist, was working on a project entitled A is for Allah and believed Zain could contribute by lending his voice to some of the songs.In 1999, Zain flew to the United Kingdom to join Yusuf Islam’s Mountain of Light Studios to record.
He was given a chance to perform in seven of the eight songs on the album.During the production, Zain was signed under Mountain of Light’s cultural label, Jamal Records.
In 2005 he established a South African based production company called Zain Bhikha Studios.Zain Bhikha Studios is a non-profit organisation and all proceeds from Zain’s album sales and shows go towards deserving charities.
In 2014 he celebrated 20 years as an artist, with twelve albums.

Zain Bhikha Career as a Producer

He has written and directed theatrical productions with a spiritually uplifting message. One of his productions was “An Orphan’s Tale”, successfully produced in conjunction with a South African School.
In 2008 he collaborated with Peace T.V and together with Dawud Wharnsby and they produced ‘Living Islam with Zain and Dawud’

His parents are Rashid and Mariam Bhikha, he has three sisters. He is married with four children.
