Kendrick Lamar Biography

Kendrick Lamar Duckworth popularly known by his fans as Kendrick Lamar,an American rapper and songwriter was  born in Compton, California on June 17, 1987.As a child Kendrick attended McNair Elementary in the Compton Unified School District and later as a teenager, Lamar went on to attend Centennial High School in Compton where he was a straight-A student.


He grew up in a crime area that is Compton after his parents moved from Chicago due to violence. He began writing rhymes as a young teenager, and he released his first mixtape, Youngest Head Nigga in Charge (2003), under the name K. Dot. The music impressed Anthony Tiffith, head of the newly formed record label Top Dawg Entertainment, and he signed the musician.
Lamar was never influenced negatively by the crimes surrounding him and he grew his skills as a poet and song writer.In 2010 Lamar dropped the K-Dot tag and began using his own name. He also put out a fourth mix tape, Overly Dedicated. That same year, Lamar released his first full-length independent album under Top Dawg Entertainment. Titled Section.80, it was released exclusively on iTunes.

At age the tender age of 16,back in 2003, Kendrick Lamar circulated a mix tape called Youngest Head Nigga in Charge an album that drew a lot of interest in his native Southern California and beyond.The music album impressed Anthony Tiffith who was then the head of the newly formed record label Top Dawg Entertainment and he signed the musician. Duckworth put out two more mixtapes as K. Dot—Training Day in the year 2005 and C4 before releasing Overly Dedicated in 2009 as Kendrick Lamar.
In the year 2010, Lamar toured with Tech N9ne and Jay Rock on The Independent Grind tour and on July 2, 2011, Lamar released the album Section.80, his first independent album. The album features guest appearances from GLC, Colin Munroe, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul.
Lamar continued writing music and lyrics, and continued to tour and collaborate with more popular recording artists such as Young Jeezy, The Game, Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. Due to his amazing talent and performance,Dr. Dre, one of hip-hop’s most respected and influential producers took the young artist under his wing, becoming his mentor in both music and business.
In October 2012 Lamar’s highly anticipated major-label debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, was released to wide acclaim.The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.Also the album had  Hit singles like Swimming Pools and Poetic Justice which further solidified his fan base, not only among hard-core hip-hop heads, but also among college students and fans of alternative rock.
In 2015, Lamar released his next album, To Pimp a Butterfly, featuring artists like Bilal, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams, among others. The album led to Lamar being nominated for a whopping 11 Grammys later that year and won the first award of the 2016 show, that is for Best Rap Album.
On March 23, 2017 Lamar released a promotional single The Heart Part 4. On April 7, 2017 Kendrick released his hit single ‘Humble’ which did very well in the industry.A week later on April 14, 2017 Kendrick Lamar released his new album ‘Damn’  which made it as number one album on the Billboard 200 chart.
